Deep water after dark. Sanji is midnight Brisa straw with a weathered band and a single piece of seaglass set into it — a stone the ocean spent years smoothing. The quietest hat in the line, and the one that holds the most.

The body is hand-woven Brisa straw from Ecuador — Panama-style, dyed a deep midnight that reads near-black until the light catches the weave. The band is weathered, worn soft, and set with a single seaglass stone — frosted, sea-tumbled, the kind of thing you find and keep. Dark body, salt-worn detail. A hat with the patience of something that has been somewhere.

A wearable extension of the person. Worn by men and women. Built one at a time, by hand, in Austin, Texas.

Materials

All hats are hand crafted using the highest quality materials. The Ready-To-Wear collection features 100% beaver felt hats.

Shipping & Returns

For domestic orders, shipping cost is a flat rate of $40. Each hat is made to order, therefore we do not accept returns or exchanges. Because we handcraft each hat individually, it takes approximately 4-6 weeks from production to delivery for domestic US customers

Care Instructions

Trovador hats are shipped in boxes designed to support the brim and maintain its shape. You can store custom felt hats in plastic to keep them free from dust and debris. Straw hats should not be stored in plastic because the lack of air can dry out the straw causing it to become brittle or break.

To learn more about other storage options and more on how to care for your Trovador Custom, check out our Hat Care Guide.

  • How to Measure For Your Hat

When purchasing a new hat, it is important to be as accurate as possible with your head measurements to prevent getting a hat that is under or over-sized. You will need to measure your head using a measuring tape or find a friend to help.

To take your head measurement, place the tape around your head around where the hat will sit. This should roughly be about 1/8" above your ear, across the mid-forehead, and completely circling your head. Hold the tape firmly, but not too tightly. If your measurement falls between sizes, choose the next largest size.

All of our hats come sized and you can use this size guide to make your order.

For Custom Hat orders, you can visit our Design Studio in Austin, TX, to have your head professionally measured.

Hat Artist - Ryan McGrath

We lapped making hats some time ago. They’re artifacts born in the smoke and static between songs. Every pyro burn is a riff etched in time. Every dye bath a baptism in outlaw pigment— we’re raiding the psychic vault of American rebellion: the bruised violet of a black eye earned honestly.

From custom “life downloads” that weave a client’s entire soul into a single hat, to exotic accents that feel like they’ve already lived a thousand miles. If the hat feels dangerous, lived-in, and somehow still elegant as hell — that’s not an accident. That’s Trovador.
